Every year the question of visiting Costa Rica for the Christmas holidays is frequently posed. Opinions on the topic tend to differ. But, generally early in the month of December is better than later.
At the beginning of the month many of the girls are looking for extra money, much more than just to pay the bills. Local men are flush with cash because employers pay an extra month of wages. But, the world’s oldest profession doesn’t come with a bonus plan.
So, during the first week of December the pickup bars, the Del Rey are full of broke girls and the local men with good paying jobs. Girls come out of the wood work. A semi-pro who hasn’t worked in years may suddenly appear for a couple nights.
The scene tends to fall off during the second week of December, and during the week of Christmas the bars are lonely places. The odds may still be good, but the goods are odd. In other words, it’s Christmas your mileage may vary. Come early.
